Every day we are swimming in a sea of self-proclamations of becoming better, to have a cleaner home, to eat healthy, to FINALLY getting our butts to the gym! Why can’t social media just LAY OFF FOR JUST ONE DAMN DAY on all the things that EVERYONE else is accomplishing! You are over here, green with envy, over their lives, their images, their living style. That little square image in your feed that makes you think, ‘Dang, I want that.’
So you do it. You set out and get that gym membership. You buy that new modern lamp that claims to transform your space. You change your hair color. You check out that self-help book that will make your life that much better, and it works! ….for awhile. The changes are short lived because they just aren’t you! The newness starts to fade, you put down the book…There is no way! How can they expect you to change your life THAT much? It doesn’t fit in your lifestyle. You stop going to the gym. But there they are…. Those perfect squares that you scroll through every day, showcasing the perfect lives of everyone else. What sets you apart from those lives is they are not you.
“Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.”
“Time is the only luxury we all have”. What I started to realize what is truly most inspirational is actually doing what you set out to do! It’s getting off your ass, turning Netflix off and JUST DOING IT! THAT IS WHEN INSPIRATION STARTS TO CHURN INSIDE OF YOU! You start inspiring yourself to push further, to accomplish more, to have those experiences that fear held you back from. Experiences will be our legacy that we look back on. What we tell stories about. What we are proud of! You will walk away thinking, “I can’t believe I did that!” It will be a story forever with you to tell. What sets you apart from those people living their lives in those little boxes on your phone is THEY AREN’T YOU. Your experiences are your own.
YOU CAN BE YOUR OWN INSPIRATION.
I was inspired and you know what I did? I got off my ass and started planning. I contacted a makeup artist, hair stylist, and set out to Hobby Lobby for crafting supplies. Cynthia Valdez from Vinyl Beauty Studio did the hair and integrated the unicorn horn. Cyler Daigle slayed on makeup! I constructed the feather epaulettes and sewed the black tulle skirt. We set the date and executed far more than what I could have imagined. The point is, I got out of my comfort zone. I dared to dream outside the box for a photo shoot!
